A restaurant has unveiled a new dining plan to help customers to remain socially distant – a giant rubber ring on wheels.

Owners at Fish Tales in Ocean City, Maryland, the US, have bought custom-made "bumper tables" to keep diners at a 6ft distance when the restaurant reopens.
In a Facebook Live video they posted on Saturday, employees are seen testing the bumper tables as they stand in the middle of the ring where a "table" is placed around the inner tube.

Customers would be able to move around to chat with their friends while maintaining a safe distance with others.
A woman can be heard saying in the background: "Only at Fish Tales can you find these special tables for social distancing.

"They are six feet apart. You can drink safely,” she said as a number of employees wheel them from the back of a truck onto the bar.

"Have you ever seen anything like this before? We are always trying to be fun at Fish Tales"
She adds that the tables will be available to customers "whenever we are allowed to serve".

Owner Donna Harman said the idea came from Revolution Event Design and Production in Baltimore, according to ClickOrlando.

She has since received quite a lot of positive reactions from the video.

One viewer wrote: "Social distancing at its finest."
Genius idea! Could you imagine....I think it would be a blast1" said another one.

"Is this real? Are they really doing this ? 'Cause it’s hilarious and I so would do it I love the creativity," a third added.

But others raised concerns whether the diners could get out for bathroom and questioned if the customers have had to stand during the whole meal.
